Week Two

Yeehaa!! New Week – New Blog

On the first Sunday, we got the pleasure to visit Hope Community Church. After a lovely welcome we heard about God’s Word and spent time together in worship. Of course, we couldn’t leave without coffee and ginger biscuits. At the following day we jumped into the car and drove to the beach. There we spent time in prayer and tried to play crosswind-Frisbee. That was fun!

Our big adventure started on Tuesday. On this week’s tramp we crossed the Abel-Tasman National Park. We walked through the jungle between the palms and trees - and of course the typical giant NZ-ferns. During this time, we were accompanied by an incredible bird- and cicada concert! Marvellous! And for the people who have been on OTG before, we visited the famous penguin crossing at Golden Bay…

At the first hut we had a nice meeting with a family and some rewarding time to focus on God. We’ve learned how great our God is and how to grow in faith. We are only saved by His grace and not by our own works. What a privilege it is to have Him as our Heavenly Father!

After a fresh night we were rewarded with a delicious breakfast and an amazing sunrise. Arrived at the second hut, we cooked a nutritious dinner and had the pleasure to listen to a bedtime story – read by Norm. The whole time we had to pay attention that our belongings weren’t stolen by our friends, the Wekas (NZ flightless birds)!

On the next morning, we continued with our Bible Study, accompanied by a nice breeze right in front of the hut next to the forest. We learned we should be responsible for serving and leading others as Christ did to all of us. This is an important thing to keep a relationship with Him and to apply it in our everyday life. We should honour Him in every moment. We were asked if we do good things and serve others just to show off or does it happens out of the bottom of our hearts. What do you think about it?

We got our stuff and backpacks ready and our journey to civilization began. Christy was already waiting for us at the van. Back at base camp, we looked forward to some resting time because the next day was already waiting.

After today’s Bible Study we got one question to think about: Will you give the Lord every part of your life or will you hold back?
